Odense Port, Daijin ink monopile storage agreement

Odense Port

Denmark’s Odense Port has entered into a reservation agreement with Dajin Heavy Industry for 100,000 sq m of port area, to store offshore wind components destined for European wind farms.

In the coming years, Dajin will deliver a substantial number of monopiles (offshore wind foundations) and transition pieces to projects across Europe – including Denmark, Germany, Scotland, and France.

One of Dajin’s largest European customers, RWE, will receive over 140 monopiles, including 36 that will be delivered to Thor, Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm with a capacity of 1GW.

Dajin’s monopiles have previously been stored in Eemshaven in the Netherlands and Dajin will now expand its marshalling operations to collaborate with Odense Port for the storage of these massive offshore wind foundations.

Europe has set an ambitious target of installing up to 450GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050 – primarily in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea – as part of its ambition to achieve climate neutrality.

The expanding offshore wind sector is pivotal to reach these overarching European political objectives.

As more projects progress from planning to installation, the critical role of offshore wind in Europe’s energy transition is becoming increasingly clear.

Odense Port is thrilled to sign this commercial partnership with Dajin (picture of the signing) and looks forward progressing the collaboration over time.

Odense Port aims to provide the essential port infrastructure for marshalling operations targeted the international offshore wind industry to support the deployment of offshore wind farms across Europe for years to come.
