Enercon erects 6MW prototype

Enercon has signed a letter of intent to supply 2500MW of turbine hardware to Turkish companies Iş Enerji and Polat Enerji for onshore wind projects.

The German manufacturer’s E-175 EP5 model is to be used in the planned venture, with scope to deliver “at least” 350 turbines over a five-year period, it said.

The hardware has a rated power of 6MW-7MW and features rotor diameters of 175 metres.

Machines will be supplied to projects in Turkey and other nearby countries, with Enercon to also provide long-term service for the wind farms constructed.

“Enercon is ready to continue its contribution to the energy transition in Türkiye,” said the company’s chief executive Udo Bauer.

“I am very much looking forward to the cooperation with our partners Iş Enerji and Polat Enerji, which represents a new milestone in onshore expansion in Türkiye.

“The political support for renewables in Türkiye is also exemplary. Politicians rightly see onshore wind as the cornerstone of a sustainable energy system in the country.”

Polat Enerji board member Neşet Özgür Cireli added: “Enercon wind turbines have already proven to be very reliable and robust in our existing projects.

“Our current installed capacity is over 740MW and 130MW of capacity extension wind farm projects is under construction or development.

“We are pleased to advance our commitment to wind energy together with Enercon both in Türkiye and other countries where Polat Energy Europe invests in and develops projects.”
