Enersense has secured a European patent for its gravity-based base solution for an offshore wind power plant from the European Patent Office.
The Finland-based company’s foundation can be floated to the wind farm site and installation on the bottom is done by ballasting and de-ballasting.
The base can also be lifted up and reused in a new location or delivered for recycling at the end of the product’s life cycle.
When using ballast, the use of large floating crane vessels is avoided when installing the stand.
“We are very proud of this new patent, which represents a significant step forward for the offshore wind industry,” said Enersense Offshore Business vice president Niko Suomela.
“This patent strengthens our position as an innovation leader and gives us even better opportunities to meet our customers’ needs and develop new, top-quality solutions.”
