Global Infrastructure Partners’ (GIP) Skyborn Renewables has acquired 50% ownership in Orsted’s 704MW Revolution Wind, currently under construction off the coast of Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Skyborn picked up the 50% share previously owned by the utility Eversource Energy.
In addition to Revolution Wind, Skyborn will also take over 50% of the already-commissioned 132MW South Fork Wind.
“We are excited for our new partnership with Global Infrastructure Partners and Skyborn on South Fork Wind and Revolution Wind, two projects that are historic as well as central to America’s energy priorities”, said group executive vice president and chief executive Americas at Orsted David Hardy.
“GIP is a trusted and longstanding global Ørsted partner and brings world-class experience to the U.S. offshore wind industry”.
“Orsted’s leadership and innovation in the renewable energy sector makes them an ideal partner, and we are proud to build upon our successful track record together,” said partner and global head of energy at Global Infrastructure Partners Salim Samaha.
“This fourth strategic collaboration underscores our shared commitment to advancing the energy transition and delivering sustainable solutions at scale.”
