ScottishPower Renewables has received planning consent for the 65MW Hollandmey hybrid renewables project in Scotland.
The scheme will comprise 10 turbines delivering 50MW of onshore wind capacity alongside a 15MW solar array and 15MW of battery energy storage capacity.
It will be built 8km south-west of John O’Groats in the Highlands.
SPR’s onshore managing director Gillian Noble said: “We’ve received consent for our Hollandmey project, providing enough green electricity for around 40,000 homes.
“In building onshore wind, solar, and battery together we can maximise the electricity we are able to generate at the site and deliver to homes and businesses across the UK.”
The developer has agreed with Highland Council to provide a £50,000 contribution to support the electric vehicle network in the Highlands in addition to a community benefit package still to be confirmed.
