The Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency has launched its first offshore wind measurement campaign, aligning with Azerbaijan’s Social-Economic Development Strategy 2022-2026.
This landmark project, dedicated to exploring and harnessing offshore wind energy potential, marks a significant step forward for our nation’s renewable energy ambitions.
In collaboration with Finland’s Vaisala, we’ve installed two state-of-the-art LiDAR devices at designated sites.
These devices use laser beams to measure wind speed and direction up to 10km away, creating virtual measurement points at heights of 75m, 150m, and 225m.
Kamran Huseynov, deputy director of the Agency, said: “This initiative not only enhances our understanding of offshore wind potential but also solidifies Azerbaijan’s commitment to a sustainable green energy future.”
