Coriolis Energy and ESB are preparing a planning application for the 80MW Foel Fach wind farm in north Wales.
The scheme would comprise 11 turbines with up to 220-metre tip heights located at a site near Bala in Gwynedd.
Based on 7.2MW units, the project would deliver around 79.2MW of capacity.
A permit application is due to be submitted to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales in 2025.
The developers intend to offer a community benefit fund of £8000 per megawatt and are also exploring options for locally-shared ownership.
Foel Fach project development manager Clare Dance said early-stage assessments indicate the location is a good site for a wind farm.
“At a time when climate change and the need for more renewable energy generation is clear, Foel Fach would make a significant contribution to achieving the Welsh government’s net zero targets. We also have plans to improve habitats on the site to support biodiversity.
“In the coming months we will hold a public consultation, so that residents can meet the team and find out more about our plans.
“We will also start discussions with groups in the area with an interest in the community fund, as well as with companies and contractors who might wish to learn more about contract and job opportunities.
“We are exploring opportunities for an innovative shared ownership offering whereby local people would be able to own a share in the wind farm in return for savings on their electricity bills. More information about how this would work will be shared in future updates.”
The scheme would join the developer partnership’s 130MW Y Bryn wind farm in the Welsh development queue, which is currently under review by planning officials.
