Iberdrola strikes XXL monopile deal with Navantia-Windar JV

Navantia Seanergies -Windar Renovables is to build 21 monopiles for Iberdrola’s Windanker offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea for Iberdrola.

This is the 4th monopile order for Navantia-Windar and the 2nd that Iberdrola has contracted from the consortium for this type of foundation.

The structures will be built in the new facilities at the shipyard in Fene, A Coruña.

The manufacture of the 21 pieces will involve 420,000 hours over 10 months, generating around 210 jobs between Navantia-Windar Renovables and collaborating auxiliary industry.

Each substructure will have a maximum size of 84 metres in length, 10 metres in diameter and 2,100 tonnes in weight.

Navantia Seanergies -Windar Renovables said the new contract “demonstrates its leadership and adds a new contract to those already awarded for a value of more than 1,000 million euros, thus consolidating a relationship of more than 9 years with Iberdrola, with orders for its offshore wind farms in the UK, Germany, France, and the US”.
