Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has issued a ranking of qualifying offshore wind projects in its ongoing Round 3.2 auction.
Local developer Shinfox secured the top spot, with a roughly 700MW project in the Formosa 3 block taken over from a wpd/Skyborn effort.
Formal contracts and final capacity figures are not expected to be awarded until after a bidding round, it is understood.
SRE, going under the name Synera, came in the second place, with an 800MW project in the Formosa 6 block off the coast of Changhua County.
“Winning the auction is just the ticket to the wind farm development journey, and there are still many challenges ahead. As the leading offshore wind developer in Asia, SRE will continue our unwavering commitment to advancing green energy, working hand in hand with partners to foster a sustainable future,” Synera said.
Orsted’s 570MW Greater Changhua 3 proposal came in third place. The project is adjacent to the Danish developers Changhua 1 and 2a schemes, which were completed and commissioned earlier this year.
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ 1.8GW Fengmiao 2 came in fourth place, while Corio’s Formosa 3 Block 1 site was fifth in the MOEA’s rankings.
Enervest took the final spot.
