The first steel plates for Equinor’s Empire Wind 1 project have been delivered to Sif’s Maasvlakte site and the first transition piece for the 810MW US offshore wind farm is currently being manufactured in Roermond.
Sif will supply 54 monopiles and transition pieces for this US project.

Production of the monopiles is expected to start in July at its new factory on the Maasvlakte site.
The move follows the signing of a PPA for the Empire Wind 1 project by Equinor and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
Empire Wind 1 is expected to provide renewable energy to power as many as 500,000 homes in New York.
