The wind turbines for Poland’s 1200MW Baltic Power offshore wind farm, will be shipped from the Port of Ronne at the end of 2024.
The PKN Orlen and Northland Power project will be the first offshore wind farm to be built in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, and its 76 machines will be able to supply power to over 1.5 million households.
Baltic Power will also be the first European scheme to use Vestas’ new 15MW hardware (V236-15.0MW), which until now has only been installed as a test turbine.
The wind farm will be established approximately 150km east of Bornholm and the turbines are due to be installed during 2025.
Port of Ronne commercial director Jeppe la Cour said: “We are very happy and proud that we will now also be the installation port for a Polish wind turbine project, and then even the first of its kind in the Baltic Sea and with the brand new 15MW wind turbine from Vestas.
“We take it as a sign that we have strengthened the Port of Ronne’s position as the Baltic Sea’s centre for green energy.”
