Dutch contractor Boskalis has started work installing the second nearshore export cable for TenneT’s 700MW Hollandse Kust (West Beta) offshore wind farm in the North Sea.
The company’s Giant 7 cable-laying vessel started this week on export line number two after successfully completing the work on the first wire.
It will be assisted in the task by its specialised burial sledge tool BSSIII to install the cable in the shallow part of the North Sea, close to shore and also on the beach.
Meanwhile, cable-laying vessel Ndurance takes over the work on the export cable about 4km offshore. The trenches for the wire in the seabed are being cut by the company’s trailing suction hopper dredger Gateway.
Following the installation of the export cables, Boskalis will lay a 9km-long 66kV interconnector cable between the TenneT projects Hollandse Kust (West Alpha) and Hollandse Kust (West Beta) offshore connector platforms.
