Alight is planning a 45MW solar park in Metsäkulma, Salo in Finland.
The Aurinkopuisto solar park will be built on a land area of approximately 60 hectares in Kisko.
Alight has organised a community consultation for the project where it presented the plan for building a solar park and gathered feedback from neighbours to move the project forward.
Next, the company plans to submit a building permit application for the project.
Alight’s vice president Warren Campbell, said: “Alight has developed and operated large solar energy projects in the Nordic countries for more than ten years.
“With that, we have a unique know-how to operate in northern conditions, where the sun’s radiation is less.
“We are happy to be able to bring this know-how to Salo as well, where we want to be a long-term owner of the park, create strong ties to the community and manage the land we use responsibly.”
Alight develops and operates solar parks in Sweden and Finland, and it sells the clean electricity it produces to energy-intensive companies through PPAs.
The model guarantees the buyer an affordable and predictable electricity price and ensures the financial sustainability of the solar park, according to the developer.
Alight has already held discussions with companies interested in renewable energy, and with regard to the Salo solar park, more in-depth negotiations will take place as the construction of the project approaches.
The planned start time for the construction of Aurinkopuisto is in 2025 with planned commissioning of the park in 2026.
