Deep Wind Offshore has joined forces with the Swedish grid company Ellevio to accelerate its Olof Skötkonung offshore wind farm in Sweden.
The project is being developed in Sweden’s exclusive economic zone (LSEZ) in the Bothnian Sea.
The distance to Gävle is just over 40km, and to Söderhamn approximately 65km. The nearest point onshore is Rödhäll, approximately 26km southwest of the wind farm.
An application for exclusivity was submitted in 2023, which has been transferred by the Swedish government to the County Administrative Board of Uppsala for evaluation.
The water depth in the area of the wind farm’s intended location is about 18-75 metres and the wind farm is planned to be built on bottom-fixed foundations.
The Olof Skötkonung offshore wind farm is expected to produce up to 7.5TWh of renewable electricity, corresponding to the combined electricity consumption of Gävleborg and Uppsala counties in 2021.
Deep Wind said: “Combining our expertise on offshore wind power and Ellevio’s role as a ambitious and pioneering grid owner will make many interesting impacts.”
