Acciona Energia saw its full-year 2023 revenues and profits increase, driven in part by its acquisition of a stake in turbine manufacturer Nordex.
Acciona’s revenue rose 52% in 2023 compared to 2022 to reach €17.02bn and a net profit of €541m, an increase of 22.6%.
The group acquired a majority stake in Nordex, holding a 47.08% stake since 1 April, 2023. This contributed €5.27bn to the group’s revenues, corresponding to the nine months of consolidation, in a year that marks a major turning point for the subsidiary as it contributed a positive gross operating profit.
Nordex saw a turnover of €6.48bn, a 14% rise on 2022, along with positive EBITDA and a backlog of €10.54bn (up 7.6%), of which €6.91bn corresponds to projects and €3.63bn to services.
Turbine orders in 2023 amounted to 7358MW (16.3% more than 2022), representing revenues of €6.21bn (+16.2%) across 25 countries, mainly Germany, Turkey, Spain and Sweden.
The company installed a total of 7253MW during 2023, 38.9% more than 2022.
During 2023, Acciona maintained its growth strategy – combined with strong discipline in risk, profitability and balance sheet management – which is reflected in a net investment cashflow of €3.33bn (up 66% on 2022).
Of this total, Acciona invested €2.32bn while Nordex provided €376m. The group’s infrastructure division invested €267m and real estate €205m.
Capacity additions reached a new record high of 1.7GW in 2023, with total installed capacity rising to 13.53GW.
