Vattenfall has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with copper supplier Wieland Group for output from a 46MW solar farm in Germany.
The companies expect a new 10-year PPA to provide investment security, price guarantee and risk diversification for both sides.
From 2025, fossil-free, renewable electricity from a solar park in Nauen, Brandenburg, will be available for Wieland’s metalworking processes.
The solar park is located in Nauen, about 40 km west of Berlin.
It is under development and is scheduled to be completed and connected to the grid in 2025.
Subsequently, around 46 gigawatt hours of electricity per year will be used for the metalworking processes.
As a result of the partnership, Wieland-Werke will be able to cover around 10% of its electricity needs in Germany with renewable energy.
