Low Carbon has contracted Elmya EPC, a subsidiary of Spanish multinational Elmya, to design and construct a solar power plant in the UK.
Elmya will be responsible for the construction of the 22.51MWp Pattingham Farm photovoltaic array near Birmingham.
Head of supply chain & procurement at Low Carbon Edward Reeve said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Elmya, which has a strong track record internationally for building renewable infrastructure on time and to budget.
“Once operational, Pattingham solar farm will deliver clean, secure electricity helping to play an important role decarbonising the UK grid network and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.”
Elmya will be responsible for the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the plant.
Elmya EPC managing director Gerardo Rodríguez Pagano said: “The Pattingham project represents a significant stride in one of our key markets, the UK.
“Low Carbon is a renowned developer, and it is both a challenge and a source of great satisfaction that it has entrusted us. We anticipate this to be the first of many successful collaborations.”
The solar plant is expected to be operational by March 2025 and generate enough electricity to supply more than 13,000 households, avoiding the emission of 12,585 tonnes of CO2.
