Siemens Gamesa has completed expansion work at its Taichung Nacelle Plant expansion in Taiwan.
According to a LinkedIn post, on February 1st, President Tsai Ing-wen, Presidential Advisor Shen Rong-jin, Presidential Secretary-General Lin Chia-lung, and other dignitaries attended an event to mark the milestone.
The expansion will allow the facility to produce nacelles for the company’s SG 14-222DD offshore wind turbines.
President Tsai Ing-wen stated: “Siemens Gamesa is the wind turbine manufacturer with the most investment in Taiwan. In the second quarter of this year, they will start using the second phase of the factory, continuing to deepen the supply chain in Taiwan and bringing more potential to the industry development.”
Siemens Gamesa Executive General Manager for Offshore in APAC Niels Steenberg added: “We will carry out full nacelle production and assembly at the Taichung nacelle factory in the second quarter of this year, cooperate with local suppliers, jointly enter the development of the third phase of offshore wind power blocks, and enhance the value of the industry chain!”
