DEME Offshore and Sika have signed an agreement on the supply of grout material to the 496MW Iles d’Yeu et Noirmoutier offshore wind farm.
Under the deal, Sika, formerly MBCC Group, will supply its specialised offshore grout MasterFlow 9650 for use on the structural connections between the steel monopile foundations and the rock bed, which the foundation will be anchored to.
Furthermore, the grout will also be installed as skirt backfill between the transition piece and the monopile foundation.
The first supply of the MasterFlow 9650 grout is planned for early 2024 and the installation of the foundations in the rock bed will commence soon thereafter. It is estimated that the supply and installation will continue throughout a full year.
The Iles d’Yeu et Noirmoutier project is being developed by Ocean Winds, Sumitomo Corporation, Banque des Territoires and Vendee Energie.
“Building upon the performance of MasterFlow 9650 in an earlier French project, we are happy to work once more with DEME on the installation of the foundations in the Noirmoutier OWF project,” says Luc Westhof, Head of Offshore Sales Europe at MBCC Group, part of Sika since May 2023.
“MasterFlow 9650 shall allow DEME a fast and reliable offshore construction of the monopile foundations,” he added.
Guillaume Fallourd, Project Manager at DEME France, added: “Building upon our established partnership and the recent success of a similar XL grouted monopile project, we are confident Sika will once again prove to be the ideal partner for the Noirmoutier wind farm.”
