Energiekontor has cancelled a turbine blade delivery to its up to 50MW Pines Burn wind farm in Scotland today (15 November) after a haulage vehicle was vandalised while parked in a layby.
The damage occurred earlier this week after transports were paused due to slower than expected progress and limited daylight hours during a previous delivery run.
It had been hoped to resume the police-escorted convoy today once repairs had been made to the blade lifter.
However, the company said in an update today the repairs “are still ongoing and taking longer than expected” and, due to daylight hour restrictions, will be unable to take place as planned.
“We apologise for the last-minute cancellation today and the inconvenience caused,” it added. “This cancellation was due to vandalism to the blade lifter.”
Energiekontor now hopes to continue the component deliveries on Friday.
Pines Burn is an eleven-turbine site located between Bonchester Bridge and Hawick in the Scottish Borders.
It is due to be built in two stages of seven machines followed by an additional four units.
Nordex N133 turbines with a mix of tip heights between 145 metres and 149.9 metres will be installed in the first 34MW phase.
An earlier planned blade delivery had to be cancelled last week due to high winds.
