Orsted has pulled out of a partnership bidding for development rights in upcoming Norwegian offshore wind auctions.
The Danish developer has exited the alliance with Fred Olsen Seawind and Hafslund, according to the Olsen parent Bonheur.
“Orsted has informed us that due to a prioritisation of investments in the portfolio it will withdraw from pursuing participation in offshore wind developments in Norway, and therefore its participation in the partnership will discontinue,” said Bonheur.
“Hafslund and Fred Olsen Seawind will continue their strong partnership with a view to pursue the Utsira Nord project specifically and offshore wind in Norway generally.
“The Blaavinge partnership with Hafslund and Fred Olsen Seawind is not in a position to pursue Sørlige Nordsjø 2.”
Orsted head of Europe new markets Alana Kühne said the company is “adjusting business development and bidding activities, particularly in some of our new markets”.
“As part of this we have decided not to prioritise offshore wind development in Norway for now and will therefore not to be participating in the upcoming tenders for offshore wind. With this decision we will be stepping out of the Blåvinge partnership. We wish Blåvinge every success in its future participation in offshore wind tenders in Norway.”
