Corio has entered into a partnership with Globalsat, a Greek technology outfit, with the aim of exploring offshore wind development opportunities off the country’s coastline.
This partnership comes as the Greek government announces a national offshore wind programme which could reach 4.9GW of offshore wind energy capacity by 2030-32.
“This is an exciting partnership between two companies who are leaders in their field,” said Guillermo Martínez-Navas, Corio’s Head of Americas, New Markets & Portfolio Strategy.
“With our track record of developing highly competitive and attractive offshore wind development proposals, and winning seabed rights across the globe, we are ideally placed to play an important role in the next chapter of Greece’s renewable energy journey.”
Under the MoU Corio’s expertise in auction preparation and project development will be combined with Globalsat’s knowledge of the country’s regulatory and economic framework.
“Working together, we will assess potential areas for the development of offshore wind farms, conducting engineering studies and research into relevant wind, metocean and marine conditions, with a view to bidding for rights and progressing developments to completion,” Martínez-Navas added.
