Gode Wind 3 wind farm’s OSS Topside and Modular Support Frame has sailed from Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s yard in Saint Nazaire France to reach its installation site in the German North Sea where it was installed by Orsted.
The 1,900-tonne topside has a 242MW power output capacity and will collect and export the power generated by the offshore wind turbines through dedicated submarine cables, while remotely controlling and monitoring the operation of the site.
“This important milestone demonstrates the capacity of the company to carry-out turn-key projects, as it is the first Electrical Offshore Substation Orsted entrusted under a full EPC scheme” said Frederic Grizaud, director of Atlantique Offshore Energy, Chantiers de l’Atlantique Business Unit dedicated to Marine Energy.
“We are now fully focused on the offshore commissioning phase.”
