Enercon has delivered a version of its E-nacelle prototype to its first customer project.
About one year after the installation of the first E-nacelle prototype featuring new converter technology Enercon is preparing a version of the E-nacelle for installation in the first customer project.
The E-nacelle is for the E-175 EP5 model, whereas the E-nacelle prototype was developed initially for the E-160 EP5.
The E-nacelle will initially arrive at a test station at the Aurich site in Germany to undergo intensive measurements as part of the factory acceptance test (FAT) shortly before shipment to the prototype construction site.
The E-nacelle will then be delivered to the construction site, where it can be installed at once, enabling a quicker installation.
Moreover, the new nacelle can dispense with a steel frame thanks to its “self-supporting” design.
In the long term, all Enercon wind energy converters will benefit from the advantages of the new E-nacelle thanks to an identical parts concept.
In addition to the E-160 EP5, the E-nacelle will also be deployed for the E-138 EP3 and the new top model, the E-175 EP5.
