ASL Safety & Training has recently completed the offshore Renewables Wind Turbine Technician Training programme in conjunction with Green Tech Skillnet and Wind Energy Ireland.
The course for the latest batch of wind turbine technicians followed the Global Wind Organisation’s Entry level framework.
Following completion of the training programme which included Sea Survival, Vessel Transfer, Slinger Signaller, Enhanced First Aid and many other International GWO components, all participants are now ready to go and start careers in either onshore of offshore roles.
The programme was delivered at ASL’s dedicated training centre at Kish Business Park in Arklow, County Wicklow.
Following completion of the programme, ASL managing director Mark Corcoran said: “We were very proud to have delivered this first-ever offshore-oriented Wind Turbine Technican Training Programme from our base in Arklow.
“With a strong pipeline of offshore wind projects getting closer to construction, we are delighted to be doing our bit to help prepare our own local Irish workforce and give them some of the skills that will be needed as this industry opens up.
“ASL will be continuing our investment in this area and associated technologies and training. We will be seeking to collaborate with other bodies as the industry continues to grow.”
