Voltalia has signed a 15-year PPA with BA Glass Group, a European leader in the production of hollow glass for the beverage and food sectors.
BA Glass Group will be supplied by two solar plants, representing a capacity of 12.4MW, out of the total of 50.6MW from the Garrido complex in Portugal.
With the BA Glass Group contract, all 50.6MW at the complex has been secured by long-term corporate PPAs.
After the start of construction of the complex in September 2022, the first kilowatt hours of electricity were generated into the grid in March 2023.
Once fully commissioned, the Garrido complex will prevent the emission of more than 46,685 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
The complex also provides solutions to high energy price inflation and possible energy rationing for large industrial consumers.
Voltalia chief executive Sébastien Clerc said: “We are very pleased to sign this Corporate PPA with BA Glass and to announce the start of power production at the Garrido complex.
“With this project, Voltalia once again brings renewable and competitive electricity production to its customers.”
