Canadian Solar has announced that six of its photovoltaic solar projects totalling 685MW in Spain received favourable Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
The green light from the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge and the Environmental Agency of Castilla y León relates to projects located in the Andalucía and Castilla y León regions.
The autonomous regions of Andalucía and Castilla y León are two of the most promising and fast-growing regions in Spain for solar energy, boasting with some of the best solar irradiation in the world, Canadian Solar said.
All projects are expected to start construction in 2023 and will be fully operational by 2025.
The Company’s total portfolio of solar photovoltaic parks under development in Spain amounts to more than 2GW located across six autonomous communities.
