Gransolar’s EPC arm GRS has begun building an 82MW solar project in Portugal.
The project is located in Penamacor, in the Castelo Branco region, and is being developed by German investment and asset manager KGAL.
The solar plant will be built on a sloping area and subdivided into plots, and has been designed according to the environmental guidelines to respect the biodiversity of the area.
It will be connected into the Public Service Electricity Grid through a 220 kV line with a length of over 24 km.
The project, designed by Ingenia Solar Energy (ISE), is expected to go online in 2024.
The Spanish company will subsequently carry out the operation and maintenance tasks of the plant for at least two years.
“Our funds KGAL ESPF 4 and 5 are very successful with their strategy of investing in early- to mid-stage renewable energy projects,” said Michael Ebner, Managing Director of KGAL Investment Management.
“A prerequisite for this success is partnering with experienced EPC contractors such as GRS.
“We look forward to working together in Penamacor.”
