Acciona Energia has signed renewable energy power purchase agreement with Portuguese company Violas Group.
Through the 10-year contract, Acciona Energia will supply more than 55,000 megawatt hours of renewable electricity, a year, to the group’s subsidiaries, including Solverde, Clip and Cotesi, in Portugal.
The energy supplied will have certificates with 100% renewable Guarantees of Origin by the EEGO platform (Entidade Emissora de Garantias de Origem) of the National Electric Network (REN).
“This contract is part of our commitment to sustainability and the decarbonization of our business.
“Our subsidiaries are implementing a wide variety of programs to reduce the ecological footprint of their activity, such as Cotesi’s internal system to reintroduce 100% of production waste into new products, and its R+D initiatives to reduce the use of plastic,” said Manuel Violas, president of Grupo Violas.
Alexandre Kisslinger, Director of Acciona Energia in Portugal, added: “This long-term contract represents competitive advantages for our client, as it offers price stability at a time when the market is very volatile and makes a major contribution to its climate objectives.”
Acciona Energia has 166MW of renewable generation assets in Portugal, including wind and solar installations.
The company’s portfolio in Portugal includes 16 wind farms, in addition to one of the largest photovoltaic plants in the Iberian Peninsula, Amareleja.
Acciona Energia’s contract with Violas Group joins the agreements with other reference clients in Portugal such as Fnac, Makro, NH Hotels, Siemens and Vidrala.
