ABB is inviting technology startups, including those developing battery energy digital storage software projects, to join its 2023 ABB Electrification Startup Challenge.
Winning startups will help create innovative technology solutions that will tackle the world’s most pressing energy challenges and secure a long-term partnership with ABB to develop, launch and scale their tech solutions.
Startups can participate in one of four electrification challenges, including stream optimisation software could help drive broader adoption of Battery Energy Storage Solutions, which are a key enabler of the green energy transition.
The Cyber Security Assessor challenge aims to reduce cyber risks for electrical substations.
Challenge three tackles creating more sustainable and user-centric Human-Building solutions to connect people with their smart homes.
The fourth challenge will enhance sustainability in Direct Current installations with a smart DC metering solution for data acquisition and monitoring.
Applications close on 21 February.
ABB Electrification chief strategy officer Anton Kotov said: “The energy sector is facing some of its biggest challenges to date, with growing demand for resilient, efficient, and sustainable power supplies.
“Electrification is at the heart of this clean energy transition and that’s why the ABB Startup Challenge is so important.
“It pairs ABB with the brightest minds in the industry to find exciting new ways to tackle key industry challenges and develop innovative solutions for a low-carbon future.”
After ten days of intensive work alongside mentors from ABB, Microsoft and SynerLeap, three finalists will be chosen for each challenge.
Each finalist will then pitch their innovations at an event in Berlin on 21 April.
The winner of each challenge will then embark on a collaboration project with ABB Electrification worth US$30,000 each, to jointly develop and bring their ideas to market.
