Ukrainian energy investor DTEK has reported that the Tryfonivska solar farm has resumed providing electricity to the country’s grid.
Currently, the volume of electricity generated by the station does not exceed 15% of its installed capacity of 10MW.
The station stopped generating after its terrirtory was occupied under the ongoing Russian invasion.
DTEK has claimed that the station was damaged by Russian shelling and theft of solar panels.
As a result of preliminary inspections, about 20% of the solar panels were affected. In addition, the operator of the distribution system – Khersonoblenergo – also has certain restrictions on accepting a larger amount of electricity due to the damage to the grid.
DTEK Renewables continues to assess the station, as the entire area has not yet been checked by minesweepers for mines or other explosive substances.
Oleksandr Selishchev, CEO of DTEK Renewables said: “We are grateful to the Armed Forces of Ukraine that the Ukrainian flag is flying again on the territory of the Tryfonivska SPP.
“We are making efforts so that the station can operate at 70% capacity by the beginning of spring. Since it is green energy in times of war that is an extremely important element of Ukraine’s energetical independence and security.”
