EDP Renewables (EDPR) has successfully produced its first megawatt hour (MWh) from the Acampo Arpal photovoltaic plant located in Zaragoza, Spain.
The plant has an installed capacity of 9.2MW.
Rocío Sicre, Managing Director of EDPR Spain, said: “Leading the energy transition is one of EDPR’s priorities.
“Through it, we can contribute to achieving, for example, the much-needed energy independence in Europe and meet the goals set out in the 2030 Agenda.
“We have also been working and playing an active role in this regard for years, and we expect to be a completely green utility by 2030 and a carbon-free utility by 2025.”
As of September 2022, EDPR has secured 1.5GW of solar power capacity, which is in line with the company’s strategic plan.
Through this plan, EDPR aims to increase its solar capacity in Europe by 2.4GW, around 25% of its total solar capacity by 2025.
Additionally, EDPR plans to invest in solar power up to 41% of the €19bn gross renewable investment target by 2025.
