Empire Engineering has signed an agreement with Dajin Heavy Industry to facilitate cooperation on offshore wind projects.

This cooperation will allow both Dajin and Empire Engineering to jointly develop business scopes in Chinese and overseas markets, covering design, fabrication, transportation and installation of offshore wind bottom-fixed and floating structures.

Empire Engineering is an engineering consultancy that specialises in offshore renewable energy, primarily in the area of offshore wind turbine foundations.

Established in 2010 the team has experience covering “most of Europe’s offshore wind farms” and increasing involvement in development in East Asia since 2018, including Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan and Mainland China.

Empire Engineering recently announced the opening of a Beijing office as part of expansion plans.

Dajin carries out offshore wind foundation fabrication and has operated and implemented offshore wind projects on a global scale.

Shen Cao, General Manager at Empire Engineering China, said: “The Chinese and European offshore wind markets have operated in parallel for many years, with limited sharing of experience and expertise.

“With this collaboration between Empire and Dajin we plan to bridge this gap, providing benefits to both markets and help us all to reach our goals of net zero emissions.”

Empire will use its technical expertise, business network and branding in the European market to provide marketing and business development support for Dajin whilst promoting its products and infrastructure.

Dajin will use its presence and experience in the Chinese offshore wind market to provide Empire Engineering with business opportunities for technical consulting and its knowledge of the foundation fabrication, transportation and installation in the Chinese market.

Empire works across all stages of a project life cycle, including feasibility and concept work; tendering; EPCI project execution; decommissioning and life extension.

Services include package, project and engineering management, detailed analysis and design, as well as technical and commercial consulting.

In addition to consultancy work, Empire is also behind the annual Offshore Wind Engineering conference, Foundation Ex, a series of technical events for the industry.
