Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) has achieved first power at the 589MW Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farm, off Taiwan.
Dennis Sanou, CEO of Changfang Xidao Offshore Wind Farm, at COP said the project will “work and push” for completion by year end 2023.
“For this to happen the project relies on the continues support from the government to solve the additional storage of five WTGs and to prevent further delays on the completion of the critical infrastructure, including the O&M Changhua port facilities,” he said.
The offshore wind farm is located in the Taiwan Strait, approximately 11 km off the coast of Fangyuan Township, Changhua County on the Taiwanese west coast.
The first phase of the offshore wind farm will involve the installation of 10 9.5MW turbines in 2022.
The second phase is scheduled for 2023 and will involve the installing a further 47 turbines with a total capacity of 446.5MW.
The final phase of the project will involve the installation of five 9.5MW turbines for the Xidao wind farm in 2023.
Upon completion, the wind farm will consist of 62 Vestas V174-9.5MW turbines with a combined capacity of 589MW.
