Investment giant Carlyle Group has launched a European renewable energy platform with ambitions to build out a 10GW development pipeline by 2030.
Telis Energy will be headquartered in London and will focus on developing and investing in the UK, France, Germany and Spain.
Adrien Pinsard, a former partner at Platina Partners and more recently the interim chief executive of Macquarie’s Cero Generation platform, has been appointed chief executive of the new business.
He wrote on Linkedin that the company would support the “next generation of energy transition entrepreneurs”.
He also thanked Carlyle Group for backing the platform. The investment firm manages around $15bn of infrastructure assets and has invested $1.2bn in renewable energy assets since 2018, according to Reuters.
Subsidiaries already established under the Telis Energy brand include Telis Energy UK, which aims to build a multi-gigawatt portfolio in the UK.
It is being headed by Florent Leblanc, who founded UK solar and storage developer Novergy in 2018 and has previously held roles at NextEnergy Capital and Octopus Investments.
Telis’ French subsidiary, Terapolis, is being headed by Carole Descroix who has held previous roles at Eclairance, Neoen and EDF. The company is aiming to partner with communities to build out 2.5GW of utility-scale projects by 2028.
