Orsted and T&T Group have signed an agreement with Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment’s National Innovation Center (NIC) to in relation to offshore wind.
The companies signed the fie-year cooperation agreement to enhance technical capacity and build technological expertise in Vietnam’s emerging offshore wind sector.
It was signed as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Danish-Vietnamese diplomatic relations with a visit by their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess of Denmark and was witnessed by Vice Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc of MPI and Vice Minister Dang Hoang An of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
This agreement bring together offshore wind researchers and technology providers with top Vietnamese universities, research institutions and industrial players to deliver custom made solutions for Vietnam’s offshore wind industry.
The goal of this initiative is to launch an Offshore Wind R&D and training centre under NIC.
This will act as a focal point for human resource development, technology transfer, supply chain development and research to make offshore wind a success in Vietnam.
Welcoming today’s announcement of the Memorandum of Understanding, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment, said: “I believe, appreciate and have hope in the joint venture of T&T Group and Ørsted.”
Sebastian Hald Buhl, Country Manager of Ørsted Vietnam, added: “Ørsted is proud to join forces with the National Innovation Center to nurture the future talent and technology which will drive Vietnam’s transition to green energy in the decades ahead.
“Alongside our partner T&T Group, we are ready to provide resources and knowledge-sharing to enhance local technological capabilities, close the skills gap and support talent to deliver high quality and competitively priced offshore wind for Vietnam.”
