GE Renewable Energy CEO Jerome Pecresse has announced his departure from the company.
Pecresse said in a LinkedIn post that last week, after eight rewarding years, he has relinquished his operational duties as GE Renewable Energy’s CEO.
“This is not a decision I have taken lightly but, having spent a long tenure building and leading the GE Renewable Energy business, I thought this was the right timing for a new adventure outside of GE,” he said.
Pecresse said he was proud of the strong, innovative team of approximately 40,000 employees in the business unit.
“During this time, there has been an exponential, innovation-driven, growth of renewable energy and GE has played a vital part.
“From the merger of GE and Alstom’s renewable energy businesses to the acquisition of LM Wind Power and the subsequent additions of our Grid Solutions and Hybrids businesses, I am honoured to have led the build-up and the growth of a business which, over this period, has installed equipment allowing the generation of around 100 GW of renewable energy and has improved its sustainability performance every year.
“Just this month, we have finished installing, in advance to the schedule, 80 wind turbines for France’s first ever offshore wind farm and have started to manufacture the first Haliade-X wind turbines for the UK Dogger Bank wind farm, which will be, when installed, the world’s largest offshore wind farm.”
In a statement to reNEWS, GE said: “The company salutes his role as a leader in the energy transition and the development of renewable energies around the world.
“His expertise and experience have enabled the company to successfully complete numerous projects in a context of profound transformation of the energy market and global reorganisation of the company, allowing GE to maintain its leadership position in the global energy transition.”
At the end of 2021, GE announced its plan to form three public companies.
GE’s energy businesses, including GE Renewable Energy, will sit together under GE Vernova, GE’s portfolio of energy businesses.
Pecresse said that “thanks to a unique portfolio of activities in the energy field and a strong team of leaders, GE Vernova will be a world-wide leader in accelerating the energy transition.”
