Vestas has received a 67MW turbine order from Red Rock Power for the Benbrack wind farm located in Dumfries and Galloway in south-west Scotland.

The order includes the supply, installation and commissioning of 15 turbines in total.

Vestas will supply 13 V136-4.5MW turbines and two V117-4.2MW turbines in 4.3MW operating mode and will also service the turbines.

Deliveries and installation of the wind turbines are expected to begin in early 2024, while commissioning is expected to complete by the middle of the same year.

“We are very pleased to have been selected by Red Rock Power to supply our onshore solutions for its Benbrack wind farm as it highlights the importance of onshore wind to the UK energy security strategy,” said Juan Furones, vice president for Vestas sales north and west.

“This project, once again, shows the applicability of the recently upgraded V136-4.5MW wind turbine, and the V117-4.2 MW wind turbine, towards the Scottish climatic conditions,” he added.

Benbrack project director Jamie Grant added: “We look forward to working with Vestas on Benbrack and are pleased to have completed an agreement before early onsite works commence in August.

“Vestas’ commitment to innovate and continually improve efficiency was a key driver and aligns with our long-term goals to maximise generation and asset value once in operation”.

Vestas has also received a 40MW order from Eurowind Energy for the Nørre Økse Sø wind farm repowering project in northern Denmark.

The order includes the supply, installation and commissioning of 11 V126-3.45MW turbines in 3.6MW operating mode, which will replace the site’s wind turbines.

In Italy PLT engineering has placed a 39MW order for five V136-4.2MW and two V117-4.2MW wind turbines for the Borgia wind park, to be located in the region of Calabria.

Vestas will also service the turbines for 20 years.

Vestas has received a 27MW order for the Aquilonia and Forenza wind parks, for the IVPC Group, to be located in the regions of Campania and Basilicata, in Italy.

The order includes the supply and installation of two V100-2.0MW and two V126-3.45MW wind turbines, for the 12MW Aquilonia wind park and four V126-3.45 MW wind turbines for the 15MW Forenza project.
