Boralex has commissioned three wind farms with a total capacity of 53MW in France.
The wind farms are located in the commune of Louville-la-Chenard, in the Eure-et-Loir department of the Centre-Val de Loire region of France.
They comprise the repowering of two existing wind farms with six wind turbines each and the construction of an extension with seven turbines.
The three projects were executed simultaneously and overseen by Boralex’s teams.
The repowered Remise de Réclainville wind farm features six Nordex N117 turbines each with 2.4MW of rated power taking capacity to 14MW up from 12MW.
The repowered Evits et Josaphat wind farm hosts six Nordex N117 turbines, taking capacity from 12MW to 14MW.
The Bois des Fontaines wind farm features seven Nordex N117 turbines with a total capacity of 25MW.
Boralex Europe general manager Nicolas Wolff said: “As an owner-operator of renewable energy production sites, Boralex aims for optimal management of the life cycle of its sites.
“Wind farm repowering is an integral part of our strategy.
“To date, we have repowered and upgraded every one of our sites that has reached the end of its service life.
“Repowering is also advantageous for the host communities, as it ensures both the sustainability of the commitments made on initial commissionings as well as the local production of cost-competitive green energy.”
