Denmark will host a leaders summit on 18 May in Esbjerg to discuss how to boost offshore wind development in the North Sea.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (pictured) will meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Belgium Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
The North Sea Summit will focus on the central role offshore wind will play in phasing out fossil fuels in the EU and how the North Sea can become a green powerhouse for Europe.
At the summit the heads of state and the commission president will adopt a common vision for deploying offshore wind and related infrastructure in the North Sea.
The EU’s energy commissioner and ministers for climate and energy from the respective member states will also meet in Esbjerg on the same day with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation.
