Renexia has inaugurated its 30MW Beleolico project which will be Italy’s first offshore wind farm to come online in the country.
The wind farm (pictured) is located off Taranto in the Mediterranean Sea and once operational will be able to generate energy equal to about 58,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) and meet the needs of 60,000 people.
MingYang help deliver 10 MySE 3.0-135 wind turbines and will provide a 20-year maintenance service for the project.
An inaugural ceremony was also held yesterday on 21 April at the Multi-sectoral Pier of the San Cataldo Terminal.
During this event, Renexia also signed an agreement with the Port of Taranto Port Authority for the sale of at least 10% of the energy produced by the wind farm, equal to 220MWh per year.
The President of the Province of Taranto, Giovanni Gugliotti, and the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Municipality of Taranto, Vincenzo Cardellicchio, were present at the event to greet guests.
Other attendees included Riccardo Toto General Director of Renexia, Stefano Ciafani, President of Legambiente, Sergio Prete, President of the Ionian Sea Port Authority, and Alessandro Cecchi Paone, journalist and popularizer.
Meanwhile, the President of the Puglia Region, Michele Emiliano, the Minister of Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti, the Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, Enrico Giovannini, and the President of the Italian Steelworks, Franco Bernabé, also attended virtually.
