RPS’ metocean team has deployed a floating lidar buoy at the site of Equinor and Polenergia’s 1560MW Baltyk 1 offshore wind farm off the coast of Poland.
The RPS team were tasked with supplying the metocean buoy, including measurement equipment, and managed the entire deployment, from logistics, assembly, testing to launch, as well as sourcing the deployment vessel.
The buoy will measure wind resource data above the sea surface as part of the one-year wind resource measurement project.
RPS said the deployment continues the further expansion of RPS’ capability and capacity in the European region, supported by a new metocean centre in the UK.
The company said it has been supported by its local Polish partner MEWO.
RPS metocean director EAME Anthony Gaffney said: “Our team is pleased to support the development of Polish offshore wind through our metocean expertise.
“We are very excited to be a part of this important measurement project, supported locally by our increasing presence in Europe.”
