Toshiba has won a turbine supply contract for onshore wind farms totalling 147MW in the Abukuma area of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.
The Japanese company said it will supply 46 GE 3.2MW machines and provide operations and maintenance for 20 years.
The turbines will have total heights of 148 metres installed on the ridge line of the Abukuma area, which straddles Tamura City, Okuma Town, Namie Town, and Katsurao.
The project is owned by Fukushima Reconstruction Wind and will deliver enough electricity each year to supply the equivalent of approximately 120,000 households
Construction is already underway, Toshiba said.
GE Renewable Energy and Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions Corporation signed a strategic partnership in May last year for offshore wind technology building on previous collaborations.
