Global Maritime has scaled up its Geosciences department (GM Geo) to meet client and project demand across offshore wind projects in Europe, Japan and South America.
The company has made strategic recruitment and taken on a larger office at the sustainable innovation space, The Core, in the Helix development at Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Growth has been driven by key projects in offshore wind energy, contracting strategically at a Tier 1 level to offshore wind developers and transmission operators.
The GM Geo team now encapsulates expertise across key technical discipline areas of engineering geology, geophysics, geotechnical engineering, subsea cables and GIS.
It was launched just nine months ago, and now comprises 12 professionals working exclusively in the offshore energy sector.
GM Geo global business lead geosciences Gareth Ellery said: “Developing offshore wind projects cost effectively and quickly whilst managing risk demands an integrated approach from Geosciences to drive more value out of seabed data.
“With key discipline leads in place and their discipline teams growing, we’re supporting projects throughout their lifecycle whilst leveraging our global footprint and other expertise within GM.
“Being able to augment our skillsets with colleagues across hydrodynamics, structural engineering, naval architecture, MWS and marine operations has proven to be very successful in exciting new areas such as floating wind design.”
