PGE and Orsted have opened a tender for the general contractor for the onshore links for the 2500MW Baltica 2 and 3 offshore wind farms off the coast of Poland.
The onshore connection infrastructure will be built in the vicinity of Osieki Leborskie, in the Choczewo commune, in the Wejherowo district in Pomerania.
Two adjacent transformer stations will be built there – one for the Baltica 3 and the other for the Baltica 2 – together with export cable lines in the onshore area.
The task of the general contractor will be to implement the contract in the ‘design and build’ mode, PGE and Orsted said.
The work also consists of building access and internal roads, a water and sewage network for the stations, lighting and fencing.
Interested parties have until 2pm local time on 26 April to apply.
The tender results are planned to be announced by the end of this year.
The first construction works related to the onshore stations are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2023.
PGE management board president Wojciech Dabrowski said: “Preparation for the construction of the land part of the infrastructure and its implementation itself is a several-year process taking place in parallel with the preparatory work at sea.
“Year 2022 will be very intensive for us in terms of procurement procedures relating to evacuating power, while first construction works on land are planned for Q4 of 2023.”
Orsted Polska acting managing director of offshore Soren Westergaard Jensen said: “We operate in accordance with the set schedule, conducting several processes in parallel, both from the side of tender proceedings like the one for the construction of the land part of the infrastructure, as well as from the side of obtaining permits and securing the financial side of the project.”
