Engie has inaugurated the 22MW Plaine de l’Etantot wind farm in the Terroir de Caux region of Normandy in France.
The €23m project created 30 jobs during the construction phase, the company said.
The tax benefits are estimated at nearly €5m over 20 years, which will be distributed between various municipalities, it added.
Benoit Follain, Mayor of Saint Maclou de Folleville, said: “This wind farm will participate in the energy transition of the Normandy territory and will enable our municipality to invest in the renovation of 5 housing units and to move forward with our school centre.”
Engie Green development director Nicolas Giuliano said: “This wind farm is the result of several years of work with all the players in the territory, and the story continues with our operating teams who ensure its good functioning.”
Multiple environmental studies were carried out to define impact reduction measures during the construction phase of the park and its operation, Engie said.
These included monitoring of construction work by an ecologist to protect nesting species, acoustic monitoring of the wind farm and monitoring the activity and behaviour of bats and birds for three years.
