Earnings at French energy company EDF were down almost 4% in 2021 to €1279m from €1331m in 2020.
EBITDA was impacted by the extreme cold snap in Texas in the first quarter, estimated at negative €95m, EDF said.

“EDF Renewables was obliged to buy back energy at very high prices to meet its contractual commitments and had to book an impairment for one of its fleet assets, leading to a negative impact on net income,” the company said.
Earnings were also adversely affected by a dip in wind generation in Belgium owing to unfavourable conditions, it added.
This was partially offset by an improved contribution of Edison wind generation in a favourable price environment, EDF said.
Sales grew 23.6% to €2848m last year, up from €2304m.
