Floating wind power developer BW Ideol has made its first strategic hire in North America with the appointment of Christopher Dorman as the head of US development.
Dorman (pictured) will lead efforts to advance the development of the Vandenberg floating wind pilot project in California, the company said.
He will also prepare for the forthcoming Bureau of Ocean Energy Management lease auctions on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
Dorman will report directly to BW Ideol’s chief sales and marketing officer.
He brings over a decade of renewable energy experience to the role and was recently recognized as a finalist in the Next-Gen Leadership category of the Ventus Awards presented by the Business Network for Offshore Wind.
Other roles include serving as the chair of BNOW’s Floating Wind Working Group Permitting subcommittee, sitting on American Clean Power’s California Offshore Wind Permitting Working Group, and was a member of Pacific Offshore Wind Energy Research ́s Working Group, part of UC Berkeley’s Center for Law, Energy & the Environment.
Before returning to North America in 2020 to serve as the offshore permitting manager for Mainstream Renewable Power, Chris was a key member of the team that led the expansion of Mainstream across the globe.
