EnergieKontor UK has won an appeal to build a seven turbine wind farm at Strathrory in the Scottish Highlands.
Positioned north of Strathy Burn and northeast of Ardross, the 33.6MW Strathrory Wind Farm was originally submitted to the Highland Council as a 44.8MW, eight turbine wind farm.
Despite two modified plans, including reduced maximum blade tip heights from 180 metres to 149.9 metres, repositioned and reduced turbines, Highland Council rejected the application in June 2021 on the grounds of landscape and visual impacts.
But, in granting the application, the Scottish Government Appeals Division reporter said although there would be “significant adverse effect” he did not believe it would “be unacceptably detrimental”.
EnergieKontor was also given the go-ahead for the associated infrastructure and access track, with the wind farm granted a licence to operate for 35 years.
