Iberdrola hired over 5600 people in 2021, despite the Covid-19 pandemic and economic challenges, bringing its workforce to approximately 40,000 professionals across 40 countries.
The Spain-headquartered energy supplier said despite two “very complex” years that it “accelerated its commitment” to the green economic recovery and job creation, taking in more than 9000 people since the end of 2019.
In 2020, the company hired 3500 people, with this figure exceeding 5600 jobs in 2021, of which 36% are under 30 years of age.
Iberdrola’s growth plan entails investing €75bn by 2025 to double its renewable capacity while advancing in smart grids and the electrification of the economy.
In total this investment plan will see 20,000 new professionals incorporated into the company during this period.
With €120bn invested over the past two decades in renewables and smart grids, the company’s strategy has delivered returns to all stakeholders.
Iberdrola also said it provides four times more hours of training per employee per year than the average European company.
Since 2013, Iberdrola has become one of the companies with the highest percentage of female directors among Ibex companies, with 50% of external female directors on its board.
Iberdrola has set a goal of increasing the presence of women in management positions to 30% by 2025.
